SALISBURY, N.C. – Strong partnerships between Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and local schools are helping high school students get a head start on their future. Through the Career and College Promise (CCP) program, qualified juniors and seniors can enroll in college courses tuition-free, building confidence, saving money and gaining valuable skills before graduation.

To celebrate these collaborations and share updates on new opportunities, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College welcomed nearly 70 guests to its biannual High School Partnership Breakfast, held Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at the College’s Dr. Carol S. Spalding Advanced Technology Center. The event brought together counselors and education leaders from Cabarrus County Schools, Rowan-Salisbury Schools and Kannapolis City Schools to collaborate on shared efforts that support student success. Members of the College’s Student Success Services team hosted the event, helping to welcome attendees and share firsthand insight into the support available to high school students participating in the dual enrollment Career and College Promise program.

The Career and College Promise program gives students the opportunity to choose from multiple pathways depending on their goals, including technical education leading to a certificate or diploma, transferable college credit toward a four-year degree, pre-health programs that prepare students for competitive admission into healthcare fields and early college programs based on Rowan-Cabarrus campuses.

“At Rowan-Cabarrus, we know how life-changing Career and College Promise can be,” said Dr. Carol S. Spalding, president of the College. “When students earn transferable college credit or complete career training while still in high school, they gain confidence, save money and take meaningful steps toward a better future.”

The High School Partnership Breakfast served as a space for connection, updates and dialogue around the Career and College Promise dual enrollment program. Attendees received information about how the College is continuing to expand access to college credit and workforce training opportunities for high school students through new programs, pathways and support resources.

“With over 2,200 Career and College Promise students from local high schools, we know that our strong partnerships make the student experience so successful,” said Vice President of Student Success Services Dr. Natasha Lipscomb. “By coming together, we ensure that students receive consistent support and clear guidance as they navigate both high school and college pathways.”
